Dickinson - Phillip Roller, 84, Dickinson, died Friday at a Dickinson hospital.

Services were to be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickinson.

He was born April 1, 1896, in Russia and moved with his family to the United States in 1901. They settled on a homestead southwest of Dickinson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I, and married Philomena Roller, April 15, 1918, at Scheffield. They lived on a farm southwest of Dickinson. She died in 1972.

He is survived by a son, George, and two daughters, Christine and Pauline, all of Dickinson. (Michael-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.)

Pauline passed away Monday, October 4, 2010 at St. Benedicts Health Center in Dickinson.

Pauline Roller was born in Dickinson on February 16, 1928, the daughter of Phillip and Minnie (Roller) Roller. She grew up on the family farm with her brothers and sisters and attended Ashcoulee Country School southwest of Dickinson. Due to failing health, she made her home at St. Benedicts Health Center for the last several years.

Pauline enjoyed crocheting, painting, quilting and working in the garden. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dickinson.

Pauline is survived by one brother, George, Dickinson and one sister, Christine Roller, Dickinson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Minnie and one sister Magdalena (Sebastian) Schwindt.

Christine was born October 14, 1920 in Dickinson, the daughter of Phillip and Minnie (Roller) Roller. She grew up and attended Ashcoulee country school and St. Joseph's through the eighth grade. Christine and her sister Pauline helped on the family farm. She also worked for many years at the Woolworth's Store in downtown Dickinson. Christine enjoyed reading, crocheting, watching tv and listening to the radio. Last year she moved into St. Benedict's after living in the family home on Sims Street for many years. Christine was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Christine is survived by her brother, George Roller of Dickinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Minnie; sisters, Pauline Roller and Magdalena (Sebastian) Schwindt.

John P. Roller, 93, Dickinson, formerly of Belfield, died Saturday, August 15, 2015 at St. Benedict's Health Center, Dickinson, surrounded by his family. John's Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Belfield. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with a rosary & vigil on Tuesday at 7 p.m., with Deacon Ron Keller presiding.

John was born on December 27, 1921 in Dickinson, he was the son of Clement and Mary (Cinder) Roller. As a young boy in 1929, the family moved to the farm seven miles south of Belfield.

On May 5, 1953 John married Catherine Huschka at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Belfield. John lived in Glasgow, Mont., Williston, and Forsyth, Mont., and worked at various jobs. In 1956 John moved to Worland, Wyo. until 1958. From 1958 to 1961 John worked for the city of Belfield. From 1961 until 1978 John farmed seven miles southeast of Belfield. In 1978 John sold the farm and moved to Belfield.

John had a very deep devotion to the Catholic faith and it showed in his many hours he spent in church participating in adoration. John enjoyed making wooden toys for the grandchildren, playing cards, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

John is survived by his wife Catherine of 62 years; his 12 children, John (Sue) Roller, Dickinson, Geraldine (Dave) Hanel, Simpsonville, S.C., Marvin Roller, Fargo, Kurt (Carolyn) Roller, Superior, Wisc., Pam (Mark) Vervalen, Grand Forks, Tom (Debbie) Roller, Dickinson, Deb (Leon) Custer, Belfield, Roxann (Duane) Goetz, Gillette, Wyo., Char (Joe) Havelka, Gillette, Wyo., Cheryl (Roy) Krivoruchka, Belfield, Bonnie Custer, Bismarck, and Kevin (Mindy) Roller, Rothsay, Minn.; one sister Martha Schiwal; 28 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Louie; sisters Veronica Roller, Emma Dolajak and Rose Wilhelm; and son-in-law Lonny Custer.

7 Oct 2008~93Obituary of Valentine C. Nadvornick

Entered into eternal rest on Sunday, October 5, 2008 in Spokane. He was born to Joseph and Julianna Nadvornick on December 13, 1914 in Snow, ND and later moved to Dickinson, ND where he married and started his family. There he worked very hard at a number of jobs to support his growing family, including the brick yard, show repair, produce delivery and auto-body work.

In 1954, he moved his family to Spokane where he did cement contracting and finally worked at Gonzaga Prep for several years in maintenance. He was also musically inclined and taught himself the piano and accordion. He was a very devout Catholic, belonging to St. Francis Xavier Parish for over 50 years. He was a member of the Holy Names Society.

He is survived by sons: Don (Peggy) of Spokane, Larry (Kathy) of Yucca Valley CA, Robert (Pam) of Kalispell MT and daughter, Patricia (Raul) Cano of San Luis Obispo CA. He leaves one sister, Madge Inglis and his grandchildren: Douglas, Nancy, Mark, Andrea, Cory, Derek Nadvornick and Monica, Sara and Anthony Cano; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved Anna (Sziller) to whom he was married for over 50 years.

Besides his parents; his brothers: Jack, Joseph, Frank; sister, Mary and grandson, Erik went to the Lord before him. He will be missed by his family and many friends whose lives he had touched with his good humor, friendliness and kindness. He was grateful for the many friends and wonderful care he received at Colonial Court Care Facility in Spokane Valley, where he lived until his death.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 12, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, October 13 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 545 E. Providence. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 N. Wall.
